Be Careful… We’re Watching You!

Be Careful We’re Watching You

“Not sure if this is a wolf or a coyote, but I’m leaning toward coyote. This guy looks very hungry just like “Wile E. Coyote,” who was always chasing the Roadrunner.”

Many hunters use trail cameras these days. I never used to bother with them and I would half- jokingly say that using one is “cheating.” Then, one season I gave it a whirl… after that, I no longer considered it to be “cheating.” I then began to describe a trail camera as “friggin’ cool!”

“Game cams” have come way down in price and in fact, you could pick up a modest one for $70 without a lot of effort. Some of these cameras are very advanced. They’ll take colour images, video, you can set it for this and set it for that… half of the stuff I don’t even understand. Some even have a feature that will send a notification to your cell phone if there is activity at your camera.

Walking out of your sales meeting because there is a big buck at your tree stand… RUGGED!

The world of trail cams is getting pretty wild! For me, the simpler, the better. As with everything in my life, I want simple… simple? Yes, simple. I wouldn’t buy a trail camera that could shoot video or send notifications. All I want is a picture… black and white is fine. Just like my sonar. All I want on a “fish finder” is depth of the water and basic contours of the bottom. If I know that much, I can find fish. Back to game cams now…

Even if you’re not a hunter, it would be interesting to see what’s out there, snoopin’ around your back woods. You might discover animals that you didn’t even know were present in your area. What if you saw a Sasquatch (Bubbles calls it a “Samsquanch”) on your game camera? Would you believe in them then?

Here are some random game cam shots you might find interesting. You may notice that the date is not always accurate. I sometimes “forget” about that part…

“This little fart will lose those spots… just in time for hunting season!”

“This hog was walking around my buddy, “Plexy’s” tree stand in Ontario. But, he never did see ’em when he was on stand. Lucky for the deer, unlucky for Plexy.”

Be Careful We’re Watching You

“This “Ghost Buck” only came out at night. I never saw him during the daytime at all. Dirty bugger…”

Be Careful We’re Watching You

“Same deal… another “Ghost Buck.””

Be Careful We’re Watching You

“I set up a camera back when I was building my old house in Ontario… I had to leave town for a few weeks or so and was curious who would be snoopin’ around the joint while I was away. No people… just this deer.”

Be Careful We’re Watching You

“This young bull moose was also snoopin’ around while I was out of town.”

Be Careful We’re Watching You

“Another bruiser buck that never did find out if the light really does go off when the door is closed on the freezer.”

“Here is Bambi… and her mother. Or, is that her Auntie? Hard to tell…”
