RD on the Food Network

In 2009, I was invited down to California co host a show with Bobby Flay.  If you’re not familiar with his name, he has several shows on the Food Network and he is also one of the “Iron Chefs” on Iron Chef America.  It was his “Grill It” series that I did with him.  So, there’s me, the Rugged Dude, walkin’ around in one of the most unrugged parts of the world… I must have looked kind of funny walking around in Hollywood with my jeans, plaid shirt and suspenders.  Oh, and my multi-tool.  (Rugged!)

Since the series is all about grilling food on the BBQ, I decided to strut my stuff and show ‘em what wild food is all about!  I grilled a whole stuffed Chinook salmon, along with some prime rib venison “chops.”  I added a killer chocolate / blueberry sauce to them when they came off the grill.  And, I couldn’t possibly NOT make blueberry bannock… my tribute to the Ojibwe and Cree First Nations of Canada.  That’s about as rugged as it gets…
